Day 9 – Aunt Chelle is here! / Sweet fresh air!

Aunt Michelle came to visit today from Atlanta. Kristi picked her up at the airport and brought her right to the hospital to visit Corin. She agrees, of course, with us that he is the cutest baby in the NICU. Several of the nurses have also made that comment. He obviously comes from fine stock, so we would expect nothing less.

He was weighed again today and is up to 6 pounds, 1.09 oz. His bilirubin count came down slightly on its own, so hopefully that trend continues and the jaundice won’t be an issue again.

The big news of the day is that all of his supplemental oxygen has been removed. They had to take him off of everything a couple times to move some things around and each time they did it he responded fine. So they decided to leave it all off and see how he did. He has responded great, keeping all of his oxygen levels up on his own. It is very exciting and great to see him hooked up to one less piece of medical equipment.

Now that his breathing issues are cleared up, our next mission will be getting him to actually eat through his mouth.
