Nine months old

Corin had his nine month check-up last week. He is doing much better with his ears and his cold. He is just over 20 pounds, and is 30" long. That puts him in the 90th percentile for height, and he is 50th for weight and head size. So he is growing great and right on track.
He seems to be moments away from crawling. He will hold himself up on his hands and knees and clearly wants to go somewhere. But then he just rocks forward and falls on his face when he tries to move. But that is actually improvement. So we don't think that it is going to be too long before he is moving around on his own. He has mastered control of his walker. We set him up in the kitchen and he can go wherever he wants, which is usually to pull the towels off of the oven handle or to open and close the cabinets.
He is starting to move into eating more people food. The Doc said that we need to keep introducing new foods to him to get him used to new textures and tastes. So we have started giving him more that just baby foods (mashing up fruits and veggies, yogurt, etc). It is pretty funny. Just like his older cousin Dmitri, the first time he has a new food in his mouth he gets a really sour look on his face and tries to spit it out. He always ends up liking it and eating plenty, but the first shock of something new always gets a funny expression.
Last week we were at Kroger and when Corin saw the balloons for sale he got very excited. I went over to get him one and Kristi said that he was leaning forward in the cart watching me very closely to see if I was going to bring it over to him. We got him a Pooh Bear balloon and the next three days were spent playing and laughing with it.
We will find out this coming week if Corin is going to have a little brother or a little sister.

Binge and Purge

Corin is gearing up for the Colts' victory!

Corin LOVES riding in the shopping cart.

Corin has not been feeling great lately. He has been full of snot (which leaks profusely from his head) and has had a cough. Monday he vomited for the first time. He spits up all of the time, but this was his first vomit session, and it was a bit shocking. It moved Kristi to post on-line:

Corin has his first ear infection and fever. No movie for me tonight. And to all my mother friends why didn't you ever mention that when a baby vomits it is terrifying for the mommy? Heads up to all new moms spit up is no biggie but watching your kid stop breathing to vomit is horrifying so get prepared somehow.

We took him to the doctor and there was nothing really wrong with him on the vomit front...he just has a cold and sometimes all of the coughing can bring that on. But he did have ear infections, so he is on antibiotics now. Luckily for us, he is still smiling, happy and loves to play. I told Kristi the other day that there might not be any better feeling in the world than when I come home from work and he sees me and gets a BIG smile on his face. Play time is on!

First Christmas and New Years Eve

Hitting the bottle

Proof of Santa's visit

Hanging with his buddy John on New Year's Eve

Enjoying Shamu a bit less than John

Ok, so another delayed update...sorry about that, I'll pick it up a bit.
Corin's first Christmas was great. Grandma spent the night at our house Christmas Eve, and we woke up to discover that Santa had visited. Corin had fun and did slightly better than expected at opening presents (he would hold onto the paper and you had to pull the gift away from him to tear the paper). After breakfast at home we all went to Pop and Lola's house for more gifts and dinner. He did well all day and we all had a great night.
For New Year's Eve I was out of town for work, so Kristi, Corin and Lola went with our friend and her baby to the Children's Museum for their 'Happy Noon Year'. They count down to 12:00 noon so families can have fun and count down but still go to bed at a reasonable hour. It sounds like it was a great time and the boys had fun, right up until the end. As the countdown ended there was a lot of noise (and Corin was ready for a nap anyway) so the lad lost his cool at the end. Or maybe he was just emotional for the new year.
We hope that the new year is a great one for you. We are looking forward to it and the new additions it will bring (it has already delivered Corin a new cousin...Congrats Michelle and Nick!)
