11 months old (almost)

Corin will hit the 11 month mark in a couple days, and he has had an exciting week leading up to it.
About a week ago, he pulled himself up to his feet from sitting for the first time. He did it in his crib and didn't have much support from the mattress, so he promptly fell right back down. But at least he figured out the mechanics of it. Also on the physical progress front, we were at a party yesterday and he was able to stand on his own at a little play table and hold himself up. So it was nice to see him make some progress on those fronts.
This past week we went to Boston to visit some friends of mine. We flew out on Tuesday, and Corin did great on the flight again. He fell asleep just after take off and woke up about 15 minutes before we landed. He did the same thing on the flight back, which makes six straight flights that we have gotten lucky (plus good timing on our parts) to have him sleep for almost the entire flight.
We had a busy schedule while we were out in Boston. We walked around downtown on St. Patty's Day, along with a few thousand other people. Corin got drunk on green beer and passed out in his stroller.
One day Grandpa and Mimi drove down to visit from New Hampshire and we had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect and we were able to walk around outside for a few hours. Corin took full advantage of seeing his grandparents and got in lots of laughs and smiles. He thoroughly enjoyed having new people who love him around so he could force them to hold his hands while he walked around.
The other major event of the Boston trip was that we bought a mini-van while we were there. We had been searching on-line for a few weeks in Indiana and the surrounding states. Just for fun I started looking out in Boston and found a great deal on an '08 Odyssey. So we picked it up while we were there. On Friday afternoon I drove Kristi and Corin to the airport and then headed out for a 15 hour test drive of the new vehicle. It looks and rides great, so we are very happy with our new family truckster.
Pop picked up the family from the airport and then spent the night at the house taking care of the boy. Then Grandma came up and has been playing with him since Pop left. We took him down to a local playground and Corin got his first taste of the "real" swing. He loved it, and was laughing the entire time. He also took some rides on the slide, which he also thought was a blast.
Yesterday we went to a friend's house for a surprise birthday party. There were lots of kids there, including Corin's best buddy John. Corin enjoyed playing with John (and all of his toys). He mastered holding himself up to play, which we were very excited about. He, on the other hand, was very excited about the ice cream that his mother gave him.

My Boogie Shoes

Corin just got his first pair of actual shoes. We had plenty of 'baby shoes' which he never wore. Once Kristi paid good money to get a good pair of shoes, we realized why we never put the other shoes we had on him. A good pair of shoes makes all the difference and are much easier to put on.
We have had some warmer weather the past two weeks, so we have been taking some walks outside. We were in the rain on one walk and Corin loved being under the umbrella.
Kristi found her old Fisher-Price barn toy, and I found one of the old Fisher-Price record players with the colored plastic records, so we are rocking the old school toys in our house.
