One Year Old!

Playing in the cat house.

Holding his own bottle. A rare sight...even though he can easily do it, he would rather sit back and let you do the work.

Sleeping with the cats.

Corin just turned one year old! It is hard to believe.
His development continues. He still doesn't "regular crawl", but he will "Army crawl" to get where he wants to go. Technically, that checks the "crawling" box, but it is crazy that he will spin from sitting into a standard crawling position, and then drop down to his belly to pull himself along the floor. He doesn't even do that too often, since all he really wants to do is walk. He loves to hold onto our fingers and run around the house. Slightly less popular is him holding himself up on the couch and walking from one end to the other. He had also just started to walk around the house holding onto his walker and moving on his own. He gets a kick out of it and with a little more practice he should be able to do it with slightly less adult supervision.
A couple weeks ago Corin, mommy and Grandma took a trip to St. Louis to see her family. Corin was a hit (as always) and had a very good time playing on the piano (sweet, sweet music).
Corin's birthday party was a lot of fun. Pop, Lola, Grandma, his aunts, uncle and cousin came up to the house to celebrate. He enjoyed his birthday dinner of turkey burger and Mac-n-Cheese. The then really enjoyed his birthday cake. He very rarely eats anything sweeter than fruit, and he took full advantage of the opportunity. He got some wonderful birthday gifts, including his first car, an outdoor swing, summer clothes and his own copy of Where the Wild Things Are (which was my copy, then Faye's copy, then Emily's copy).

Happy Easter!

Corin has been going through some changes lately. Last week he started another round of serious teething, which was giving him a fever and causing some major fussiness. But thankfully it seems that has passed. On the plus side, he has been getting more mobile. He still doesn't regularly pull himself up from sitting, but if you stand him up against the couch or windowsill he will hang on with both hands and walk from one end to the other. Just the other day he started making the switch from one piece of furniture to the next. He is ready to move around on his own and this is certainly getting him closer.
Corin got to have his Easter pictures taken with some real baby ducks and chicks. I'm pretty sure that he enjoyed it more than they did once he tried to pull one of their legs off.
We had a great Easter with the family. We all met out at Pop and Lola's house and luckily the Easter Bunny had come out there, because he failed to stop by our house (but I'm sure he'll come by next year). We had a very relaxing and enjoyable day, just hanging out, eating and walking around the woods.
